[Video] Caen University Hospital, a sustainable reconstruction project using BIM, designed by AIA Life Designers and built by VINCI Construction in France

An exemplary project awarded silver BIM in its category at the Moniteur Competition

In 2018, AIA Life Designers architectural practice won the competition for the reconstruction of the Caen University Hospital thanks to a visionary project: health-friendly architecture and urban planning, designed to meet the needs of patients and healthcare staff. The ambitious and dual project consists of the construction of buildings dedicated to biology, logistics, and administration, as well as medical-technical and hospitalization spaces. VINCI Construction in France is responsible for the structural work and architectural trades, and BIM is a natural methodology from the design stage at the heart of innovation in this project, which includes not only the construction of the whole, but also its operation and maintenance.

Discover the testimonies of Clotilde Vannson and Laurent Prost (AIA Life Designers), Guillaume Ledebt (CHU de Caen / Caen Hospital) and Edouard Leroux (VINCI Construction in France) who reveal to us how the use of BIM transformed the reconstruction of the future CHU de Caen/ Caen Hospital, making possible the construction of buildings dedicated to biology, logistics, pharmacy, and medical care, and finally making it possible to imagine ingenious solutions to manage the constraints of the site, in particular the coexistence with the hospital in operation, without disrupting its mission to patients.
